ADULT DOSE:
|
|
Antianginal
Antiarrhythmic
Antihypertensive or
[Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy therapy adjunct ]-Oral, initially 80 to 120 mg (HCl) three times a day, the dosage being increased at daily or weekly intervals as needed and tolerated .
Note: An initial dose of 40 mg (HCl) three times a day is recommended in patients who may have an increased response to verapamil (e.g., those with hepatic function impairment, elderly patients , patients with poor left ventricular function ).
The total daily dose usually ranges from 240 to 480 mg.
Because of prolongation of the half-life with repeated dosing, decreased frequency of dosing may be possible; dosage should be individualized.
Geriatric patients may be more sensitive to the effects of the usual adult dose. |
