Usual Pediatric Dose
[Antiepileptic ]-
Oral, initially 40 mg per kg of body weight (mg/kg) per day; increasing to 80 to 100 mg/kg per day in two divided doses .
Therapy may be started at 500 mg per day and increased by increments of 500 mg per day at weekly intervals, depending on response.
For patients weighing 10 to 15 kg: 0.5 to 1 gram per day
For patients weighing 16 to 30 kg: 1 to 1.5 grams per day
For patients weighing 31 to 50 kg: 1.5 to 3 grams per day
For patients weighing over 50 kg: 2 to 4 grams per day
[Infantile spasm treatment ]-
Oral, 50 to 100 mg per kg per day in two divided doses, depending on spasm severity Dosage may be titrated upward over 1 week. Daily doses of up to 150 mg/kg/day have been used with good tolerability |
