ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATIONS :

 

RELATIVE CONTRAINDICATIONS :

 

ADULT DOSE:

Bacterial conjunctivitis- Topical, to the conjunctiva, 1 drop in each eye every two hours, while patient is awake, for two days, then 1 drop every four hours, while patient is awake, for the next five days. Corneal ulcers- Topical, to the conjunctiva, 2 drops in the affected eye every fifteen minutes for six hours, then 2 drops every thirty minutes, while patient is awake, for the rest of day one; 2 drops every hour, while patient is awake, on day two; and 2 drops every four hours, while patient is awake, on days three through fourteen. If corneal re-epithelialization has not occurred after fourteen days of treatment, treatment may be continued. Note: During the initial 24 to 48 hours, additional doses may be necessary during the night in some cases.

Bacterial conjunctivitis- Infants and children up to 1 year of age: Safety and efficacy have not been established. Children over 1 year of age: See Usual adult and adolescent dose. Corneal ulcers- In the U.S.- Infants and children up to 1 year of age: Safety and efficacy have not been established. Children over 1 year of age: See Usual adult and adolescent dose. In Canada- Infants and children up to 12 years of age: Safety and efficacy have not been established. Children over 12 years of age: See Usual adult and adolescent dose.
