ADULT DOSE:

Bronchitis, bacterial exacerbations - Oral, 400 mg (base) once a day for ten days . Urinary tract infections, prophylaxis - Transrectal biopsy patients: Oral, 400 mg (base) as a single dose one to six hours prior to the start of surgery . Transurethral surgical patients: Oral, 400 mg (base) as a single dose two to six hours prior to the start of surgery . Urinary tract infections, treatment - Complicated: Oral, 400 mg (base) once a day for fourteen days . Uncomplicated, due to Escherichia coli : Oral, 400 mg (base) once a day for three days . Uncomplicated, due to Klebsiella pneumoniae , Proteus mirabilis , or Staphylococcus saprophyticus : Oral, 400 mg (base) once a day for ten days . Note: Adults with impaired renal function may require a reduction in dose as follows : Creatinine clearance (mL/min)/(mL/sec) Dose (base) > 40/0.67 See 40/0.67 or Hemodialysis 400 mg for first dose, then 200 mg once a day

Children up to 18 years of age-Use is not recommended in infants, children, and adolescents since fluoroquinolones cause arthropathy in immature animals .
