ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATIONS :

 

RELATIVE CONTRAINDICATIONS :

Alcoholism, active

>> Cardiovascular disease, severe, especially angina

>> Epilepsy

Glaucoma or predisposition to

Hepatic function impairment

Hyperthyroidism or thyrotoxicosis

>> Parkinson's disease

Pulmonary insufficiency, such as asthma, emphysema, or acute pulmonary infections

Renal function impairment

>> Sensitivity to haloperidol

>> Urinary retention

 

ADULT DOSE:

Acute psychosis-Intramuscular, 2 to 5 mg initially, the dosage being repeated at one-hour intervals if necessary, or at four- to eight-hour intervals if symptoms are satisfactorily controlled . Note: For the rapid control of acute psychosis or delirium, haloperidol has also been administered intravenously, in doses of 0.5 to 50 mg at a rate of 5 mg per minute , the dose being repeated as needed at 30-minute intervals . Alternatively, the dose of haloperidol can be diluted in 30 to 50 mL of compatible intravenous fluid and administered over 30 minutes .

 

MAXIMUM ADULT DOSE:

Intramuscular: 100 mg daily .

 

PEDIATRIC DOSE:

Safety and efficacy have not been established .
