ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATIONS :

Mania or hypomania

Neurological impairment, including developmental delay

ADULT DOSE:

Antiobsessional agent or [Antidepressant]- Oral, initially 50 mg in a single dose at bedtime . The dosage may be increased as needed and tolerated in increments of 50 mg a day at intervals of four to seven days . If the daily dosage exceeds 100 mg, it should be taken in two divided doses . If the doses are not equal, the larger dose should be taken at bedtime . Note: In patients with hepatic function impairment, initial fluvoxamine dosage should be reduced , and titration should proceed slowly ; an increased dosing interval may be considered . Some clinicians recommend an initial dosage of 25 mg once a day in all adult patients to reduce the incidence of adverse effects .

 

MAXIMUM ADULT DOSE:

300 mg per day .

 

PEDIATRIC DOSE:

Antiobsessional agent - Children younger than 8 years of age: Safety and efficacy have not been established. Children 8 to 17 years of age: Oral, initially 25 mg in a single dose at bedtime . The dosage may be increased as needed and tolerated in increments of 25 mg a day at intervals of four to seven days . If the daily dosage exceeds 50 mg, it should be administered in two divided doses . If the doses are not equal, the larger dose should be administered at bedtime . 

 

MAXIMUM PEDIATRIC DOSE:

Antiobsessional agent- Children 8 to 17 years of age: 200 mg a day .

 

ELDERLY DOSE:

Antiobsessional agent or [Antidepressant]- Oral, initially 50 mg in a single dose at bedtime . The dosage may be increased as needed and tolerated in increments of 50 mg a day at intervals of four to seven days . If the daily dosage exceeds 100 mg, it should be taken in two divided doses .
