Genital herpes, recurrent episodes (suppression) -
Oral, 250 mg two times a day for up to one year .
Genital herpes, recurrent episodes (treatment) -
Oral, 125 mg two times a day for five days .
Herpes simplex, HIV-associated (treatment) -
Oral, 500 mg two times a day for seven days .
Herpes zoster (treatment)-
Oral, 500 mg every eight hours for seven days .
Note: Adults with impaired renal function may require a change in dosing as follows :
