ADULT DOSE:

[Endocarditis, prophylaxis] -Oral, 2 grams one hour prior to the start of surgery . Pharyngitis or Tonsillitis-Oral, 500 mg every twelve hours, or 1 gram once a day, for ten days . [Pneumonia]-Oral, 500 mg to 1 gram every twelve hours . Skin and soft tissue infections-Oral, 500 mg every twelve hours; or 1 gram once a day . Urinary tract infections, uncomplicated -Oral, 500 mg or 1 gram every twelve hours; or 1 or 2 grams once a day . Note: After an initial loading dose of 1 gram, adults with impaired renal function may require a reduction in dose as follows : Creatinine clearance (mL/min)/(mL/sec) Dose > 50/0.83 See 25-50/0.42-0.83 500 mg every 12 hours 10-25/0.17-0.42 500 mg every 24 hours 0-10/0-0.17 500 mg every 36 hours

 

MAXIMUM ADULT DOSE:

4 grams per day.

 

PEDIATRIC DOSE:

This dosage form usually is not used for children. See Cefadroxil for Oral Suspension USP .  

 

MAXIMUM PEDIATRIC DOSE:

 

ELDERLY DOSE:
